Thoughts
on, Exercise, Health and Lifestyle Changes.
There are many reasons why people choose to exercise and improve their lives.
The decision to begin
a fitness program and make lifestyle changes, is necessary
but it
is not
always an easy one to make.
It requires commitment, desire and changing
some old habits.
Unfortunately, many
people often come to a point in their life where they are forced to make
changes, due to poor health, instead of being proactive and staying healthy.
Whatever your motivating factor, the truly important thing is that you do it and do it now!
It is not necessary or
desirable to change everything at once.
By setting small achievable goals over weeks and months, you will set yourself
up for a life full of healthy achievements. You will also be
motivated to continue as you achieve each goal and see the changes in yourself.
Children and Teens.
The obesity problem in
children and teenagers is at epidemic proportions and becoming worse every year!
They are developing adult onset
diabetes,
heart problems and many other, unnecessary health risks, some before
they even reach their teens,
because they
are seriously over weight and under
exercised!
To
think of all the fun these young people are missing out on truly makes me sad.
The feeling of play and being able to run, jump, climb, ride a bike etc. and to
just have freedom of movement
without getting out of breath
or being in pain, is a wonderful thing that should
not be taken for granted or wasted!
But many will never know how it feels to be truly alive or to
just be a kid.
Adults and Older Adults.
Studies prove that 70% of premature death and age related problems in the older
adult are lifestyle related; heart attacks, strokes, cancers, diabetes, falls,
broken bones and many other serious problems/illnesses, can be avoided or
completely eliminated by a lifestyle change that includes exercise.
A healthy lifestyle can add 10 years to your life.
Choosing to exercise is a win, win situation!
'We do not slow down because we get old. We get old because we slow down'
Health Benefits.
I honestly believe
that my life is 101% better, because of exercise.
There have been
times that life has thrown
curve balls at me and I could have just given up,
drowned my sorrows in alcohol, ice cream, junk food, etc. but
I chose to keep exercising and found that
it
is a fantastic coping tool.
Exercise helps physically and mentally in all situations.
It does not make problems go away, but it certainly helps to deal with them better
and reduces stress.
Value.
The value of working with a good personal trainer will last a lifetime!
You will learn correct exercise technique, how to avoid injury, the most effective ways to reach your goals and how to maintain that healthy lifestyle.
If the best athletes
in the world need trainers then surely the average person needs one even more.
There are no, (real), excuses!
The number one excuse used by people for not exercising is....I Do Not Have Enough Time!
This is only an excuse! Not a
valid reason. If, Presidents, Prime
Ministers, Corporate Executives, Business Owners and many other, very busy
people, can find the time to exercise then any one can. You just have to want
it!
I have many clients that are extremely busy people, (doctors, lawyers, business
owners), yet they make the time, because
they know how important exercise is and how good it makes them feel.
Make a plan for some 'me
time' and take control, (a.k.a. responsibility), of your health.
All you need is a few hours per week to enjoy a lifetime of health.
It is never too late to begin exercising but the sooner you start, the sooner you will enjoy the benefits.
To quote Edward Stanley; (1799-1868)
"Those who think they have not time for bodily exercise will, sooner or later, have to find time for illness"
